Sapori Panforte with Figs and Walnuts is a delicious remake of the ancient classic recipe, which was believed to have been the favourite cake of the soldiers during the Second World War due to its nutritious properties. An alternative version of the classic recipe packed with flavour, where the strong taste of the walnuts meets the sweetness of the figs in a mixture still kneaded by hand today to retain all the authenticity of its traditional taste.
Panforte was first made based on an ancient cake from Siena known as “panmelato”. The original recipe was enriched when the local “speziali”, or ancient apothecaries, added fine ingredients that came from the east.
In this delicious version, also favoured by the soldiers during the Second World War for its nutritious properties, the strong taste of the walnuts meets the sweetness of the figs, creating a unique dough, still kneaded by hand today to retain all the authenticity of its traditional flavour.
Sapori Panforte with Figs and Walnuts is exquisite on its own or paired with a Vermentino della Costa noble rot wine.
Its balsamic and slightly roasted notes, and balanced combination of orange peel, treacle, honey, acacia flowers, figs and mineral hints make it the perfect accompaniment.

INGREDIENTS: wheat flour – sugar – dried figs 15% – glucose-fructose syrup – raisins – walnuts 10% – icing sugar 3% (sugar, maize starch) – hazelnut 2.7% – starch wafer (potato starch, water). May contain other nuts and soy. Store in a cool, dry place.
